About

BEST WAY SOLAR CLEAN – Your local Certified Solar Panel Cleaning Company:

Our company specializes in solar panel cleaning to maintain efficiency and longevity. Over time, dirt and debris can reduce their ability to generate energy.

Solar panels are passive collection of energy and rely on optimum circumstances to generate optimum efficiency. Just think, how many optimum sunny days are there, and what effect does weather conditions, such as snowy days, rainy days, cloudy days have on my energy generation!

So, when the weather is right you want your panels at maximum efficiency. It has been noted that dirty panels can cause a drop of up to 30% in efficiency.

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance, prevents damage, and prolongs their lifespan. Just a note: Check your panel warranty to see if regular cleaning is encouraged or required to maintain your panels.

Best Way Solar Clean uses pure, reverse osmosis deionized water to clean your panels and boost photovoltaic (PV) production.

Frequently Asked Questions

BEST WAY SOLAR CLEAN – Your local Certified Solar Panel Cleaning Company:

Can I clean my solar panels by myself?

Yes you can if you have the right equipment for the job. Do not use brushes or cleaning equipment that has not been tested and approved for safe use on solar panels. Using the wrong equipment will scratch and damage your solar panels causing irreversible damage that will permanently affect your solar system’s energy production negatively.

Also, do not go onto your roof without the necessary PPE (personal protective equipment) & fall prevention/fall arrest equipment. Taking matters into your own hands when climbing onto a roof without the necessary experience, knowledge and safety equipment can put your life in danger. Cleaning & maintaining your solar panels is a potentially dangerous task. Working with water, electricity and heights is a recipe for disaster without the necessary training & safety precautions. Slipping, falling, and electrocution are some of the biggest risks when cleaning solar panels and therefore we recommend using a professional to do the job instead.

Never use cleaning chemicals on your solar panel that has not been approved for safe use by solar panel manufacturers. This will void your warranty and cause irreversible damage to the anti-reflective coating and seals due to the corrosive properties in harsh cleaning chemicals.

For residential clients it is recommended to have your solar panels cleaned at least once every 6 months. For commercial clients once every 3 months are preferred due to the fact that more electricity is used at commercial level. Clean solar panels will produce more electricity and yield a higher ROI (return on investment). Clean solar panels will ensure that your solar energy system always performs at its optimal efficiency. Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longest possible lifespan for your solar panels.

Actually rain can cause even more problems since rainwater carries a lot of dust and dirt. Once the water evaporates, the dirt is left behind. There are also nitric and sulfuric acids in rain that will cause water spots and sediment on top of your solar panel once dried, allowing it to get dirtier much quicker. Rain may rinse off some top layer dirt on your solar panels but it is still necessary to clean them properly at least once every 6 months to avoid complications.

With this type of question we also like to use the following 2 questions as examples. Does rain clean your car or do you still need to take it for a car wash? Does a water rinse clean your mouth and teeth or do you need to brush it?

Imagine not brushing your teeth for 6 months and just using a water rinse, or leaving your car outside in the rain and various weather conditions for 6 months without washing it. Do you think it will be clean? I doubt it!

Dirt buildup, dust, pollen, grime, algae, bird droppings and many more elements will stick to your solar panel that requires a soft brush & de-ionized water to wash off as some of these elements can be corrosive and damage your solar panels over time.

No, never clean your solar panels with a high pressure washer. This is a very expensive mistake to make. The pressure from a pressure washer can force water through the seals and into the panel itself. Water ingress can lead to a defective solar panel.

Using tap water on your solar panels is not recommended. We only use deionized water to clean your solar panels for multiple reasons. Deionized water acts as a magnet for dirt and impurities; it cleans easier and more effectively than tap water as the de-ionized water will pull the dirt from your panels while leaving a spot free drying finish. Using tap water to clean your solar panels will cause sediment, water streaks and water spots on top of your solar panel due to the high volume of minerals and impurities found in tap water. Sediment will make it easier for dirt and pollen to attach to the panel surface. Deionized water also cannot conduct electricity as it is actually the ions and minerals found inside water that conducts electricity and not water itself. Water serves as a good isolators against electricity while the ions and minerals inside

water serves as a good conductor of electricity. This makes deionized water a much safer option when cleaning electrical components to prevent potential electrical shocks or short circuits.
